An [unbuilt] minimal master suite and workspace/gallery addition to a 1950's single family residence. The east-west oriented lot has excellent potential for solar gain. The addition is planned to be a solid wood wall (similar to brettstapel) encapsulated by a polycarbonate facade. Incorporating principles of das Kybernetische Prinzip - including thermal storage and an air collector (airspace between polycarbonate and wood) - the reliance on mechanical heating is significantly reduced. Vents at the top and bottom of the wall prevent overheating in summer. Strategic placement of windows allows ample daylight while minimizing intruding eyes.
